Each year the Gauntlet Trust gives more £250,000 in support of Materials Science education and research. 

This support is overseen by the Materials Science Committee of the Armourers & Brasiers' Gauntlet Trust.  Its purpose is:

  • to support and promote Materials Science education and entrepreneurship across the UK, and by doing so
  • to help individuals to fulfil their potential through challenging and rewarding careers in academia and industry

How do  we do this?

  • We support education.
  • We work in partnership.
  • We invest strategically.
  • We mentor the next generation.
  • Our work is directed by a committee including eminent and expert Materials Scientists.

The Armourers & Brasiers' Company supports the Materials Science work of the Gauntlet Trust in many ways but in particualr by awarding an annual Armourers & Brasiers Materials Science Venture Prize of £25,000 to support the commercialisation of promising research in Materials Science. The prize is given as an investment into the startup company.
